History[edit source]

ShoutWiki was founded in 2007 by a group of experienced wiki editors and MediaWiki software developers. The site was being privately developed during this time, and at this point many things were yet to be done. ShoutWiki started the closed beta program on January 5, 2009 by inviting some trusted users from around the Internet to the site to find and report bugs.

ShoutWiki declared its commitment to open source on May 4th of 2009.

ShoutWiki was officially opened to the general public on June 25, 2010 after a period of semi-public beta, during which software bugs were reported by the beta testers and fixed by the technical staff.

Soon enough ShoutWiki gained the interest of the general public with many new wikis being created, as well as wikis from other hosting services choosing to move to ShoutWiki.

ShoutWiki today[edit source]

Currently ShoutWiki, an open company, hosts 12526 wikis concerning a variety of different topics in over 20 different languages; everything from LEGO to Stargate, Fish Hooks to gardening, Star Wars merchandise to warfare and beyond. Creating a new wiki on ShoutWiki is fast, easy and free.
