Forum:Unwanted / unwarranted change of CSS
Forums: Index → Community help
At an unknown time in the past few days or weeks, a sudden change in default CSS happened. My wiki was affected by a badly placed default Monobook background image suddenly appearing, even though I use an edited version of the darker theme that shouldn't even have it in the first place and it should be disabled in custom CSS anyway, and some other elements like text labels on edit pages changing colors and being either annoying or unreadable. I have tried to revert the first mentioned change by editing Common.css and adding "background-image: none;" (or background-color and background) to either body and #globalWrapper but without any effect.
How do I fix this? Do I have to contact the admins? I've fixed other problems by checking Inspect element and editing respective classes/IDs in Common.css, but the background image seems to be particularly stubborn. Here's a comparison between the current look of the wiki and how it should look like (yes, I am aware of the miscolored page settings tabs). It is pretty aggravating to look at, as you can see.
Thanks in advance for any help. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HelloAnonMyOldFriend (talk • contribs) 00:30, 29 August 2018 (UTC). Please sign your posts with --~~~~

- I figured it out; I accidentally only specified the #globalWrapper class in the CSS file when I should have used div#globalWrapper. This along with background instead of background-color works as it should. --HelloAnonMyOldFriend (talk) 09:55, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- So for anyone who doesn't follow us on Facebook, we've upgraded to MediaWiki 1.31.0, and there seems to have been some changes to the Monobook CSS in this time, which is unusual. --Lewis Cawte (talk) 11:16, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up, I only checked the home page where the last news was from 2017. --HelloAnonMyOldFriend (talk) 11:29, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
