Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a ShoutWiki help page, hosted at ShoutWiki Hub. If you want to suggest changes, leave a message on its talk page. If you want to replace this page with a custom help page for your wiki, click the create button above.

You can add polls into a page easily with the <poll> tag. The polling feature is an extension that is enabled by default on all ShoutWiki-hosted wikis.

Example

Is the poll extension cool?
You are not entitled to vote.
You are not entitled to view results of this poll.
56 votes have been cast since the poll was created on 09:37, 14 February 2009.
poll-id 91C6278365408EC685DC10608A084410

Syntax

The poll syntax is simple:

<poll>
Poll question goes here
Answer #1
Answer #2
...
Answer #n
</poll>

Closing a poll

It is not possible to close a poll, so you need to either let it be on the page, remove it totally, or alter the poll question or options. Users can also alter their own vote at any chosen time. Because of this, it is not recommended to use polls for anything serious, such as administrator elections.

Votes are registered under the user's username or, if the user is anonymous, IP address.

Polls are identified in the database by the MD5 hash of everything between <poll> and </poll>, so changing anything, however minor (like adding or deleting a space or line break), results in a different poll.
